AIKIDO DE LA MONTAGNE
Aikido is a budo (way of the warrior) developed by its founder, Morihei Ueshiba (1893-1969) from the daito aiki form of jiu-jitsu. Accomplishment of a life time by its founder involving both physical and spiritual search, this self defense martial art is characterized by the absence of competition.
Aikido de la Montagne offers iaido classes 5 days a week and is part of Kiyoikaze iaido federation. Iaido is the art of drawing the sword and cutting in a single move. It dates back to feudal Japan and appears to have been structured by Jinsuke Hayashizaki in the XVIth century. Iaido is practiced in the form of katas (sequence of codified moves)
Since 1988 Aikido de la Montagne offers classes 7 days a week: aikido, aikido for children and iaido, under the Direction of Claude Berthiaume Shihan 7th dan.
The dojo is located in downtown Montreal
