Aikido is a budo (way of the warrior) developed by its founder, Morihei Ueshiba (1893-1969) from the daito aiki form of jiu-jitsu. Accomplishment of a life time by its founder involving both physical and spiritual search, this self defense martial art is characterized by the absence of competition.

Aikido de la Montagne offers iaido classes 3 days a week and is part of Kiyoikaze iaido federation. Iaido is the art of drawing the sword and cutting in a single move. It dates back to feudal Japan and appears to have been structured by Jinsuke Hayashizaki in the XVIth century. Iaido is practiced in the form of katas (sequence of codified moves)

Iaido classes are cancelled on Friday night May 20. There will be an aikido class at the dojo but you must be registered for the seminar to participate.

All classes at the dojo are cancelled Saturday May 21st and Sunday May 22nd.

A new iaido class will be added to the dojo schedule starting June 4th 2016. This class will be on Saturdays from 1:45pm to 2:45pm.

The June 4th class will be a free trial class.
